At Visit Palm Beach, we routinely talk with many ladies who are! Thus, we thought it was high time we share just a sample of one of our favorite recommended weekend itineraries guaranteed to provide you and your gal pals with an ultimate fun get-a-way!
Thursday
This is your girl’s weekend we are talking about! Thus, why wait till the official weekend to get a jump start on the fun! Plan your check-in as early as possible into one of West Palm Beach’s fabulous hotels and grab some bicycles or electric scooters to do some initial exploring and get the lay of the land around West Palm Beach, the Waterfront and Palm Beach Island (bike maps, recommended routes, along with expert local guides for hire are also available at the Visit Palm Beach Visitor Information & Adventure Center, in case you and/or your gal pals are not quite ready to explore all on your own just yet!).
After your initial exploration-on-wheels time, we highly recommend signing up to join in on one of West Palm Beach Food Tour’s Happy Hour Tours, where a spirited local guide will share the lowdown on the downtown food and drink scene, and you’ll be shaken, not stirred by tales of our prohibition past. Along the way, you will also enjoy delicious libations and lite bites, hear tales of speakeasies, admire colorful murals, learn cocktail-making tips and discover the best places to grab drinks in West Palm Beach.
Conveniently this happy hour drink & light bites tour happens to end right next to what has become a weekly tradition here in the City of West Palm Beach, the weekly free Thursday night live music concert series, Clematis By Night! CBN features rotating live bands, performing a wide variety of genres of music, so you and your gals can spend the evening dancing under the stars before perhaps stopping back at one of the great dining establishments you visited during your happy hour tour.
Friday
TGIF! And that’s even more true when you’re hanging with your girlfriends in the gorgeous Palm Beaches! Fridays are a great day to check out how we earned our name and reputation – from the swaying palms and picture-perfect beaches of the Palm Beaches! Nearly 30 tropical beach-access parks span the 47 miles of Atlantic coastline, from Jupiter Beach to Boca Raton, and you’ll surely be able to find one to fit your preferences! (And as always, if you need assistance in finding the right beach, our crew is again always standing by at the Visit Palm Beach Visitor Information & Adventure Center to help you choose the perfect one!)
However, for this fun Friday suggestion, we’re going to propose a little more active water fun to tie into your beach explorations – our highly recommended trip out to the wonderful Peanut Island! This unique 80-acre man-made island turned tropical park is situated in the middle of the Lake Worth Lagoon, immediately adjacent to the Palm Beach Inlet, and is a favorite destination for boaters, paddlers and day-trippers, providing numerous recreational opportunities, including great sunning and swimming beaches! However, in our opinion some of the real magic of this tropical island lies in and below its beautiful clear waters, so undoubtedly one of the best ways to experience it is by signing up for a Peanut Island Kayak Snorkeling Adventure, led by a local expert in giving underwater tours!
After a morning of swimming, paddling or snorkeling you and the ladies will have well earned some true afternoon rest and relaxation. Luckily again you are in the perfect place! The Palm Beaches is home to dozens of first-class, top-rated spas and wellness centers, and there’s no place better to unwind, de-stress and rejuvenate the mind, body and spirit. We are once again standing by to assist you in choosing the perfect spa afternoon for you and your girls!
Following an afternoon at the spa, our recommended perfect spot to top off the day is a leisurely stroll thru the renowned Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens; and to then round off your evening by attending the fabulous Friday evening event, Art After Dark at West Palm Beach’s renowned Norton Museum of Art.
Saturday
Saturday again is a day to enjoy getting a jump start on your day, as today we’d advocate for catching one of our famous Palm Beaches sunrises, perhaps while gliding over the calm waters of the Intracoastal Waterway on a stand-up paddleboard!
After catching a magnificant sunrise in the Palm Beaches, when visiting in-season (October thru May), your next not-to-be-missed stop should surely be the multi-award-winning, “Best GreenMarket in the U.S.A”, the West Palm Beach GreenMarket on the Downtown Waterfront. This GreenMarket hosts over 90 local vendors each Saturday morning and serves as the perfect local see-and-be-seen spot for breakfast, brunch or lunch!
And while you are down on the West Palm Beach Waterfront, you will not want to miss scheduling what we are sure will be one of the highlights of your girls weekend: choosing between one of several specialty cruises offered aboard Visit Palm Beach’s 50-foot catamaran, the ‘Hakuna Matata’, including the daytime Floatilla Party Cruise, Flamingle Happy Hour Cruise or the always-popular Sunset Cruise!
To top off girls weekend Saturday night, you will again have outstanding downtown dining opportunities to choose from; including some special scenic rooftop venues in Downtown West Palm Beach, such as The Ben Hotel’s Spruzzo, The Canopy Hotel’s Ban.Ter Treehouse, Restoration Hardware’s RH Roof, and Roxy’s Pub Rooftop.
Sunday
All good things must come to an end, they say, but even if this is your last Girls Weekend day, the fun doesn’t need to be over yet! Sunday brunch in Downtown West Palm Beach offers a multitude of outstanding choices – including a Sunday Brunch catamaran cruise, giving you another opportunity to enjoy more time out on our beautiful waterways!
And, if time allows, and you want to add some culture to your weekend of sun & fun, you might consider a Sunday matinee live performance at West Palm Beach’s renowned Kravis Center for the Performing Arts or Palm Beach Dramaworks.
Or if getting in some more live performance time in the Palm Beach’s gorgeous outdoors is more your thing, you might still have time to enjoy a free afternoon concert at Sunday on the Waterfront at the Meyer Amphitheater.
Finally, and sadly, all great getaways must come to an end. However before you all have to head back home, may we suggest a stop at Grandview Public Market in West Palm Beach’s Warehouse District where you can tantalize your tastebuds and senses once more among the dozen or so artists and vendors before what will surely be a bittersweet trip home as you relive the fond memories of your Girls Weekend in the Palm Beaches!
